o
start: I am sorry. I haven't been very good about
things lately.
I've been meaning to write, and God knows it's not
because I've been too busy that I haven't written.
It's not even that I have absolutely no subject matter
to work with, because defying all odds, a few things
have happened since I've gotten home that seem worth
writing about.
But I lack inspiration, or something. Everytime I
sit down to write, I find myself writing something
painfully boring, mostly about how I've been meaning
to write but lack inspiration.
Consider this entry no exception, but that I will
actually be posting this one, since it has been more
than a week. (Yeah, I'd say that's a long
time...)
But it's a new year now, and that means I can make
resolutions, even if it's a week later than everyone
else. And so (since I am too lazy to write an entry
with real paragraphs) here is a list of New Year's
Resolutions* for the year of 2001:
1. Do better in school No, really. I will
actually do my Italian the night it is assigned, I
will write my papers at least several days ahead of
time, I will buy those bulk packs the first day and
goshdarnit, I will keep up!
2. Join the gym (and go). Looking at my
schedule, I see a large gap in between my first class
and my second class on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and
also, no classes before 12 on Fridays. These would
make excellent times to drag my flabby ass to the gym.
Will I? Make that: I will!
3. Write to people more often. I haven't
started on my thank-you's for Christmas yet, and if
you happened to be a member of my family, you'd
realize that this is not a good thing, as my relatives
always, always remember these things. And hold them
against you later. Also, I don't write letters very
often to my friends. But! I shall make amends and
write wonderful correspondences this year.
(note: I was just informed that the post office has
changed it's postage rates AGAIN, making all the $.33
stamps I have useless unless a measly one cent stamp
is also attached to letter. This may throw a wrench
into my plans, but rest assured, one of these months,
I'll get around to buying a sheet of one cent stamps.)
4. Find some gainful form of
employment/internship for the summer. I am not
going back to TCBY again. Really. Please. Please don't
make me do that. I'm begging. Hire me.
5. Work on this page a bit more These
archives are in a sad, sad state (being that they're
not even on my page, but on scribble, which has a
horrible tendency to not work for relatively short,
yet crucial spans of time) and I've been thinking I
need to change it around a bit, maybe add some
different sections or something, I don't know. Something, anyway.
6. Figure out personal life. I'm not sure exactly what this entails, but figure that out too, and fix it.
7. Read more books. This is just a stupid one that I probably have no intention of fulfilling, but whatever, six didn't seem like an ambitious number to end on, so seven will be nice. It's a lucky number, or something. Whatever.
*Note: The term 'resolution' is only meant to express a desire to fulfill these goals, not an actual promise that I will fulfill these goals.
